And negatives are not always bad. Stress, pollution, social media, and the different factors which affect our status in life are abundant in the world today. These components determine our mindsets as human beings and are capable of changing our perspective on the day ahead. These mediums may create something good or bad. But the power of positive thinking can change the way you see and portray unexpected events in our daily lives. Studies say that most of the successful and happy people think about is what they want and how to get it. They say that the mind and body follow when you constantly think of the stuff that a person wants to achieve or have. Although having a positive mind can change the way you see things in life, looking at other positives may also seem out-of-bounds for some people. Let's take a look at some examples which are not good at some time, let me clarify that, AT SOME TIME. unexpected pregnancyA test where you can only get positive or negative results, pregnancy. What is better than looking at the pregnancy stick with two lines? Nothing, unless you are not expecting one, or two, or even three. Most of these unexpected pregnancies occur in teenagers. Teenage pregnancy is not unusual anymore in today's time. Most of the kids nowadays enter premarital sex or sexual interactions with their preferred partners or even colleagues. According to a 2008 National Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS) of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), one in three births is either unwanted (16%) or mistimed (20%). What happens with unexpected pregnancies? Some of these cases fall to abortion which is always available in the Philippines but illegal. Abortion is the ending of a pregnancy by the removal or expulsion of an embryo or fetus before it can survive outside the uterus. It is a safe procedure when treated legally with certain procedures. But again, abortion is not always the solution. Although other unexpected pregnancies are pushed through, some of these babies are submitted to public or private adoption agencies. Adoptions can be closed where the biological parents will have no contact with the adoptive family in the future once the adoption process has been finalized and the records are sealed, or open adoption which allows the biological parents to have some contact with the adoptive family where the contact may range from letters and phone calls to visits with their child. depressionDepression has been one of the major cases throughout the entire world and has been a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how a person feels, thinks, and acts. Depression differs from sadness and grief or bereavement. Sadness is a human emotion that all people feel at certain times during their lives, feeling sad is a natural reaction to situations that cause emotional upset or pain while depression is a longer-term mental illness that impairs social, occupational, and other important areas of functioning. It can affect anyone. This type of mental illness may be treated through medication, psychotherapy, and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). hiv-aidsHIV stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus where it damages the immune system which helps the body fight off infections. These are transmitted through bodily fluids that include blood, semen, vaginal and rectal fluids, and breast milk. The virus does not spread in both air and water, or through casual contact. AIDS stands for Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome which is a disease that can develop in people with HIV. It is the most advanced stage of HIV but a person having HIV will not develop AIDS easily. If AIDS develops, it means that the immune system is severely compromised. HIV and AIDS are connected through the progress of HIV which falls on three stages: (1) acute stage, the first few weeks after transmission; (2) clinical latency or chronic stage; and (3) AIDS. Healthline enumerated some of the ways HIV is spread from person to person include:
Healthline added that it is theoretically possible, but considered extremely rare, for HIV to spread through:
However, HIV does NOT spread through:
Though scientists have not yet found a cure for HIV and AIDS, these diseases will stay in a person for his/her entire life. So, as friends and colleagues of a person diagnosed positive, what can we do? Be there and do things that can reduce stress, be a good influence, and stay away from harm. TAKEAWAYMost of the people are not yet over with tradition, they undervalue people who experienced and are experiencing unexpected pregnancies, depression, and HIV-AIDS. They believe that these are acquired due to misbehaviors and misconduct, though some may be true, but who are we to judge? Some just showed how they trust their partners, some just believed that impossibles can be possible, and some wanted to be happy. Remember that the "right" decisions are the one that is healthiest for you, and only you can determine that.
